Like most people you probably have heard about the energy of the full moon from horror and thriller movies. But I bet that you don't know much about the new moon and how you can use it to guide you as we plan out our life.

What is a new moon?
A new moon is actually the opposite of a full moon. A new moon takes place when the moon is between earth and the sun, which means that the side of the moon that is in shadow faces us that is why we cannot see a new moon from earth just by looking up.
During a full moon however, we see the side of the moon that is being illuminated by the sun, which gives it a bright glow.
The new moon marks the beginning of a lunar cycle. This means that there’s a new moon about once a month, because the moon takes about a month (29.5 days) to go around the earth.
What is the energy of the new moon and what does it mean?
As I mentioned previously, the new moon is the beginning of a lunar cycle. It is like the beginning of a new chapter and a perfect time to start afresh or a time for a reset.
The new moon is a great time to set intentions, launch new projects and create a plan for your goals.
What to do during the new moon?
1. Create a vision board
Creating a vision board is a fun and creative way to focus on manifesting your dreams, passions, intentions and goals. Use the energy of the new moon to inspire you to create a vision board.
Get a white canvas and collect images and words that inspire you or that represent the life that you would want for yourself.
Make a beautiful collage and place it somewhere you will see it everyday so that you are inspired to take action toward it.
2. Set new intentions
Use the new moon's energy to help you set the new intentions that will help you get closer to your goals and dreams. Whether these are small goals or big goals, setting intentions is great to help you focus your energy and set the tone for your desired manifestations and outcome.
3. Start a new habit or project
The perfect time to start a new habit is the new moon. Whether you want to start working out more often, start meditating, or anything else, use the energy of the new moon to get you started! The new moon is also the perfect time to be bold and courageous! It's an ideal time to start a new project, like finally sitting down to write that book you’ve been meaning to write, or taking your first steps toward starting the business of your dreams.
Journaling is a great way to reflect and think about what you want in life. This is obviously not something that you can do only during the new moon but this is something you want to do especially during a new moon.
